“Take the cliché and massage it”, I said.
During yesterday’s Photo Walk, I was caught out following a moment of idle chat. I merely mentioned to Cambridge Historian that I was tired of those cliché tourist shots of Kings… they’re shot 100 times a day and for me, shooting on King’s parade is about taking that cliché and massaging it. I instantly regretted it.
“Why don’t you tell the group?” he said. Suddenly, I’m the photography tutor at the front of the group, sharing my ideas to the class, letting everyone know my thought processes, how my mind works, what I like and don’t like.
Straight after that chat, I took this shot. To me, the Cambridge University posters when reflected onto the front of Kings look like huge billboard adverts, as if the University’s presence wasn’t evident enough on the Parade.
